If you have been turned down for employment because of derogatory information reported in your credit file, you have some specific rights. These rights, available to you under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, (15 U.S.C. ยง 1681 et seq.) must be exercised within 60 days.

You must contact Experian Information Solutions at 1-888-397-3742, who are suppliers of information that is in your credit file.

WHAT IF REPORTED CREDIT INFORMATION IS INCORRECT?

You must quickly file a dispute form, or a written request for a re-investigation of the possibly inaccurate information in your report, and/or in your file, with Experian.

If their investigation verifies that the information provided is not accurate, or that the information can not be verified, the Credit Bureau (Experian Information Solutions) must then correct or delete that information in your file, and do it within 30 days.

If you believe the creditor to be wrong, you must then contact them and try to resolve the dispute. If you are unable to resolve the dispute, then you may submit, to the Credit Bureau (Experian Information Solutions,) a written statement of up to 100 words which will be included in your credit history file.
